Who operates Curate
Curate is a private research and writing workspace operated by Marcus Bearden. Accounts are provisioned individually by the operator; there is no self-serve registration. Curate helps prepare posts and retain published references. It never publishes to LinkedIn.
What Curate stores
Curate stores an account holder’s email address and the content they choose to create or import: captured ideas, sources, notes, drafts, revisions, writing guidance, images and documents. Supabase handles authentication credentials and sessions.
The Writer’s Desk also stores advice conversations, saved unsent questions, the context used for an answer and its sources. Model usage, cost, command receipts and operational records support accounting, recovery and reliable changes.
Curate has no analytics, no advertising and no advertising trackers. Hosting and security providers may process ordinary connection and request information to run the service.
AI advice and editing
When you request AI advice or editing, Curate sends the relevant post context, instructions, writing guide and conversation history through OpenRouter to the configured model provider. Advice can include the current text in your editor, even before it has finished saving. The Writer’s Desk shows its scope and configured model before you send.
Image inventory does not mean the adviser has inspected an image. If you explicitly include image pixels, Curate sends small derivatives of the selected images to the configured model provider. Ask can retrieve relevant saved posts, ideas and accepted Sources from the whole Curate library. Choose This post to restrict dynamic local material to the current post and its Sources. Shared writing guidance remains available in either scope. Curate sends bounded relevant material, rather than the whole library, to the model.
Other requested AI workflows, including source analysis, drafting and visual generation, send the content and instructions needed for that task to their configured providers. AI advice does not automatically change a post, approve content or publish anything.
Provider processing, training and retention depend on the selected service and account settings. Curate does not promise zero retention or that every provider has the same terms. See OpenRouter’s privacy policy and the configured model provider’s policy before including sensitive information.
If you explicitly request an image description, Curate sends the final prepared image, including its footer, at high detail through OpenRouter to your configured Image descriptions model. This stage is optional and disabled by default. You can write and save descriptions manually without sending image pixels to an AI provider. A proposed AI description is saved separately until you review it; changing a description does not regenerate the image.
Saving or updating a long accepted text Source queues a discovery summary in the background, using the configured Digest model through OpenRouter. The complete stored text remains available. Writing requests can send several relevant complete Sources; final critique and review receive all available complete text. Manually requested Capture ranking also continues in the background after you leave the page.
Web searches
New Ask conversations enable Web by default. When outside information would help, the configured Digest model can turn your question into one short public query for Brave Search. Curate does not add the post, saved library, writing guide, conversation history or image bytes to that query. Turn Web off before sending private questions. Automated checks can refuse unsafe or uncertain queries, but cannot guarantee that every private fact will be recognised. The actual public query, lookup date and result excerpts are retained with the answer. Search excerpts are discovery material, not a complete article review. Web off prevents fresh external lookups; the configured AI provider still processes your requested local context. See the Brave Search API privacy notice.
When you explicitly Re-rank Capture, compact idea snippets, audience context and timing hints go through OpenRouter to your configured Ranking provider. Optional Timeliness checks send complete captured text to your configured Decisions provider, initially TypeSafe. These checks read saved text; they do not search the web or verify that an announcement is current. Timing results are cached privately, and uncertain provider outcomes are retained without silently buying a duplicate. You can disable Timeliness or replace its assessment with your own choice.
Storage and service providers
Curate uses Vercel for application hosting, Supabase for authentication and its database, and Cloudflare R2 for media storage. Content and account data are not sold or rented. Information is shared with infrastructure, model and search providers as needed for the service and the features described here.
Cookies and local preferences
Essential cookies keep you signed in and remember your reading size. Local browser storage also remembers interface preferences, such as collapsed navigation and panels. These are used for the workspace, not advertising or cross-site tracking.
Retention and deletion
Posts and their supporting content remain while the account exists unless removed through the available workflow or an account-deletion request. Archived posts are retained references; archiving is not deletion.
Advice conversations and saved unsent questions remain until you delete the conversation. Deletion removes its active question, answer, context and source content, including retained provider-response copies in Curate. Content-free usage and audit records remain for accounting. A request that is still running must finish or be reconciled before its conversation can be deleted.
Active-storage deletion does not promise immediate removal from infrastructure backups or from a provider’s own retention systems. Those follow their applicable schedules and terms. Contact the operator to request deletion of an account and its content.
